Josh Miller, an art instructor at Northampton Community College, discusses his installation that is presented at an exhibition of artwork by NCC's art department faculty. The artwork will be presented from October 20 December 15 at the gallery in Communications Hall, Main Campus, 3935 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township and at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 East Third Street, Bethlehem.
The gallery in Communications Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. 10:00 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sunday.
Hours for the gallery at the Fowler Family Southside Center are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Weekend hours vary.

The Lehigh Valley Hospital Marathon for Via (LVH Marathon) is a unique five-person team relay, individual run, 20-mile training run and 5K Walk. The 26.2 mile course follows the Lehigh River Canal Towpath through Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. Runners of all abilities will love the scenic course. The course is designed by Bart Yasso, Chief Running Officer, Runners World Magazine.
The LVH Marathon raises funds for Via of the Lehigh Valleys Community Connections program for people with disabilities so they can connect and live in their communities. This marathon spans three cities and two counties, Lehigh and Northampton, covering Lehigh Valley Hospital and Vias service areas, and attracts runners from the entire east coast to help raise money for Via.

Viele Fäuste für ein Halleluja
Ausgerechnet an einem der heiligsten Orte der Christenheit, der Geburtskirche in Bethlehem, haben sich Priester eine wilde Prügelei geliefert. Der Grund: Ein Streit über Reinigungsarbeiten.
Bei einer Massenschlägerei zwischen armenischen und griechisch-orthodoxen Priestern in der Geburtskirche in Betlehem sind am Donnerstag sieben Menschen verletzt worden. Wie Bürgermeister Victor Batarseh der Nachrichtenagentur AFP sagte, war ein Streit über Reinigungsarbeiten in der Basilika der Grund für die Auseinandersetzung.
Einem Zeugen zufolge hatten die griechisch-orthodoxen Priester auch in dem Teil der Kirche Leitern aufgestellt, den die Armenier kontrollieren.
Etwa 50 Anhänger der griechisch-orthodoxen und 30 Mitglieder der armenischen Kirche, teils in priesterlichen Gewändern, gingen daraufhin mit Besen und Steinen aufeinander los.
Palästinensische Polizisten zogen mit Schildern und Knüppeln auf, um die streitende Parteien zu trennen. Zwei Polizisten und fünf Priester wurden nach dem Ende der Auseinandersetzung in ein nahe gelegenes Krankenhaus eingeliefert.
Eifersüchteleien um Einflussgebiete
Die Basilika, die über der Grotte errichtet wurde, in der nach christlicher Überlieferung Jesus geboren wurde, wird gemeinsam von der griechisch-orthodoxen, der armenisch-apostolischen und der römisch-katholischen Kirche verwaltet. Die jeweiligen Einflussgebiete werden dabei eifersüchtig bewacht.
Zu dem Streit am Donnerstag war es während der Reinigungsarbeiten zur Vorbereitung des Weihnachtsfestes gekommen, das die griechische und die armenische Kirche in der ersten Januarwoche feiert.
Griechisch-orthodoxe Kirchenmitglieder hatten dabei die Sektion der Armenier betreten und damit den Streit ausgelöst. Die Polizei wies einen anwesenden Fotografen der Nachrichtenagentur AP aus der Kirche.
Zu den Weihnachtsfeierlichkeiten der westlichen Kirchen in dieser Woche hatten tausende Touristen in den vergangenen Tagen die festungsartige Kirche in Bethlehem besucht.
